The Capricorn zodiac is the tenth astrological sign and is the sun sign of those born between December 21st and January 19th. The name comes from the Latin, Capricornus, meaning "horned goat" and the legend is based on the Greek myth of the goat Amalthea. It was foretold that Cronus, the ruler of the gods, would be unseat by one of his unborn children. Fearing this demise, Cronus would eat his children in infancy each time his wife Rhea gave birth. Finally, upon the birth of Zeus, Rhea was able to steal away with the baby before his father could get to him. She had Zeus raised by the goat Amalthea and because of the strife that caretaker and child were subjected to as he grew, it is said that Capricorns are ambitious survivors that push through adversity.
